Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is reportedly set to join Ranveer Singh in the upcoming sequel to the controversial film Dhurandhar, which has faced criticism for its perceived propaganda themes. According to Indian media, Kaushal is expected to reprise his role as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill, the character he originally portrayed in Aditya Dhar’s 2019 hit Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The Dhurandhar sequel, also directed by Aditya Dhar, is slated for release on March 19, 2026, and continues to generate buzz following the commercial success of the first film. The ensemble cast reportedly includes Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. Insiders suggest that the director is crafting a cinematic universe that links Dhurandhar with Uri, despite the two films being set in different timelines.
Sources close to the production told Mid-Day that Dhar is keeping details about star appearances under wraps. Vicky Kaushal had reportedly completed his portions last year, even before the release of the original Dhurandhar. While it remains unclear whether his character will interact directly with Ranveer Singh’s role, fans are anticipating an exciting crossover of popular characters.
In addition to Kaushal’s involvement, brief flashback scenes of Akshaye Khanna’s character will also appear in the sequel, with limited screen time. The official trailer for Dhurandhar 2 is expected to drop in February 2026, ahead of the theatrical release.
The news of Kaushal reprising his iconic Uri role in a new franchise highlights the growing trend of interconnected cinematic universes in Bollywood, drawing inspiration from global film industries. While Dhurandhar continues to perform well at the box office, the sequel is expected to elevate audience anticipation through its star-studded cast and cross-film character linkages.
