Durefishan Saleem has addressed and firmly rejected persistent rumours surrounding an alleged secret marriage with actor Bilal Abbas Khan, offering clarity on what she calls a rising issue of unverified celebrity speculation.
Speaking during a media interaction, the actress labelled the rumour “completely baseless,” noting that such a significant life event would never be kept hidden. “There’s nothing to it. These things don’t stay hidden—and I wouldn’t want to hide something so meaningful,” she stated.
The story, which gained traction after the duo’s performances in Ishq Murshid, was reportedly fueled by online speculation and vloggers drawing conclusions from their off-screen interactions and promotional appearances.
Durefishan took the opportunity to highlight her concerns about how parts of the media have adopted an irresponsible approach to reporting. “There’s a growing culture where assumptions are turned into headlines without evidence. This is dangerous—not just for public figures, but for the integrity of journalism itself,” she said.
While clarifying that she shares a friendly and respectful working relationship with Bilal Abbas Khan, she made it clear that rumours of marriage were entirely fabricated. “There was great rapport during the shoot, and we had fun working together. That’s the extent of it.”
