Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi is facing a ₹3 crore civil defamation lawsuit filed by Dunes Aviation over comments she allegedly made about one of the company’s chartered aircraft.
The aviation company has approached a Gandhinagar court, claiming that Fatehi’s social media remarks caused reputational damage, loss of goodwill and significant business losses.
The case is scheduled to come before Senior Civil Judge R Agarwal on September 25.
According to the lawsuit, Fatehi recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft while travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur in December last year.
She later shared the footage on Instagram and reportedly used terms such as “miniature,” “toy” and “Lego airplane” while referring to the aircraft.
Dunes Aviation has described the remarks as reckless and irresponsible, arguing that they were allegedly made without proper technical knowledge or verification.
The company claims that Fatehi’s substantial social media following significantly increased the reach of the comments, which it says negatively affected its business.
Dunes Aviation Claims Drop in Bookings
In its suit, filed in April, Dunes Aviation has alleged that the controversy resulted in a 15–20% decline in bookings.
The company has also claimed that cancellations increased after the actor’s posts were published, contributing to what it describes as serious commercial losses.
Dunes Aviation says the comments damaged its reputation and goodwill within the charter aviation business.
The company is seeking ₹3 crore in damages, citing the alleged financial and reputational impact of Fatehi’s social media content.
Company Defends Aircraft’s Safety
Dunes Aviation has also rejected any suggestion that the aircraft was unsuitable or unsafe for the journey.
According to the company, the Cessna Citation CJ2 was certified by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and was airworthy at the time of the flight.
The aviation firm has further maintained that the aircraft was being operated legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).
The claims made by Dunes Aviation are allegations contained in its civil suit and have not been established by the court.
Dunes Aviation Seeks Removal of Posts
Along with financial compensation, Dunes Aviation has asked the court to order Fatehi to remove the social media content containing the allegedly defamatory remarks or references to its aircraft.
The company has also sought a public clarification from the actor regarding the comments.
The dispute will now be considered through the court proceedings, where both sides will have an opportunity to present their respective positions.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 25, when the Gandhinagar court is expected to consider the matter.
