‘It’s Not Worth It’: Rashmika Mandanna Warns Against Overworking

Actress Rashmika Mandanna has opened up about the toll of long working hours in the entertainment industry, urging actors to prioritize health, rest, and personal life over constant hustle.

In a candid interview with Gulte, the Pushpa star admitted that her own packed schedule has taken a toll on her physical and mental well-being. “I overwork, and I am telling you it’s highly not suggestible,” Rashmika confessed. “It’s not sustainable, don’t do it. Do what’s comfortable for you, get those 8 or even 10 hours of sleep — that’s going to save you later.”

The actress, who is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film The Girlfriend, said that while passion drives her work ethic, the absence of structured hours has made it difficult to maintain balance.

Calls for 9-to-5 work culture in film industry

Rashmika shared that she would welcome a fixed-hour schedule similar to regular office jobs. “If I could choose for myself, I would say, please don’t make us actors do that. Like offices have 9 to 5, let us have that too,” she said, adding that actors often face extreme schedules that leave little time for family, fitness, or self-care.

She reflected on her need to slow down, saying, “There’s still a family life I want to focus on, and I still want to work out… but right now I don’t have a say because I’m taking on too much.”

Her remarks echo growing discussions within the film industry about the need for mental health awareness, sustainable production timelines, and humane working standards.

Producer praises Rashmika’s dedication

Despite her call for moderation, Rashmika’s professionalism continues to draw praise. Producer SKN recently lauded her as the “only pan-India heroine” willing to work tirelessly to meet deadlines, describing her as “part of the family” on every set she joins.

He credited her punctuality, teamwork, and enthusiasm for making her one of the most respected figures in contemporary Indian cinema.

Upcoming projects and personal milestones

Rashmika Mandanna, who has starred in recent hits such as Chhaava, Sikandar, Kuberaa, and Thamma, is preparing for the release of The Girlfriend on November 7, directed by Rahul Ravindran. She also has Cocktail 2 and Mysaa slated for release in 2025.

Outside of her professional commitments, Rashmika recently made headlines after her engagement to long-time partner and fellow actor Vijay Deverakonda, with reports suggesting the couple may tie the knot in April next year.

Her recent reflections offer a timely reminder that even the most dedicated stars need balance. As she put it, “Overworking might feel productive today, but in the long run — it’s just not worth it.”
