‘Fast Forever’: Vin Diesel Reveals Final Fast & Furious Film Will Begin Production in December

Vin Diesel has revealed that production on Fast Forever, the long-awaited final installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, is scheduled to begin in December.

The announcement came during a special 25th-anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious in Los Angeles on Monday night. The event marked 25 years since the original movie introduced audiences to the franchise’s world of street racing, action, and family.

Diesel returned to the same theater where the first film was originally screened, creating an emotional moment as he reflected on the franchise’s journey and his relationship with late co-star Paul Walker.

While remembering Walker, whom he affectionately called Pablo, Diesel described him as a brother and spoke about the importance of their friendship. Walker died in 2013, but his connection to the franchise has remained an important part of its identity.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Diesel confirmed that Fast Forever will enter production in December. The actor said the project has reached a stage where he believes the story is strong enough to serve as the conclusion to the long-running series.

The upcoming movie is expected to bring the main Fast & Furious storyline to an end after more than two decades. The franchise began in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious and has since developed into one of Hollywood’s most successful action-film series.

Diesel also discussed the lengthy process behind the final movie’s screenplay. According to the actor, the script took approximately four years to develop and involved multiple writers.

The extended development period reflects the importance being placed on the franchise’s ending. Diesel said he became emotional while reading the completed screenplay, suggesting that the final story carries significant personal and emotional weight for those involved with the series.

He also shared a lighter moment involving his sister and producer Samantha Vincent. Diesel said she told him to stop crying after he became emotional while reading the script.

The actor has encouraged fans to revisit the original film before the franchise reaches its conclusion. His comments suggest that the final installment will aim to connect the beginning of the series with its eventual ending.

The anniversary screening also provided an opportunity for Diesel to pay tribute to Paul Walker and reflect on the bond that developed between the cast and characters over the years.

Walker’s character Brian O’Conner became one of the central figures in the franchise, and his friendship with Diesel’s Dominic Toretto became a defining element of the series.

Diesel has repeatedly emphasized the importance of family within the Fast & Furious films, both as a theme in the movies and as part of the relationship among the people involved in making them.

The franchise has evolved considerably since its 2001 debut, moving from street-racing stories into large-scale international action adventures. Despite those changes, its themes of loyalty, friendship, and family have remained central.

With production scheduled to begin in December, Fast Forever is now moving closer to becoming the final chapter of the main Fast & Furious saga.

For longtime fans, the upcoming production represents more than another blockbuster sequel. It marks the potential conclusion of a franchise that has been part of popular cinema for 25 years and carries a lasting connection to Paul Walker and the original cast.

As filming approaches, anticipation is expected to grow around the story, returning characters, and how the filmmakers will bring the celebrated franchise to its emotional finale.
