Actress Meera and her domestic worker, Yasmin, have reached a reconciliation following a dispute that attracted widespread public attention after a video and CCTV footage circulated on social media.
According to a spokesperson for the Lahore DIG Operations, the video that went viral dates back to June. Police conducted an inquiry into the matter and summoned both Meera and Yasmin to record their statements.
The police spokesperson said Yasmin confirmed that the dispute had been resolved through mutual consent. She also submitted a statement saying that she did not want police action to be taken against Meera.
Yasmin’s written reconciliation agreement and video statement were subsequently made part of the police record, according to the spokesperson.
The agreement states that Meera had employed Yasmin as a domestic worker and that a dispute developed between the two over certain goods. Following the disagreement, both parties agreed to settle the matter and refrain from making further allegations against each other.
The development comes after CCTV footage allegedly showing Meera pushing and slapping the domestic worker at the main gate of her residence surfaced publicly.
The footage became the subject of significant discussion on social media and prompted the domestic worker to approach police. She reportedly filed a complaint regarding alleged physical abuse and sought legal action.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were examined as part of the police inquiry. Authorities subsequently recorded statements from both parties before the dispute was resolved through reconciliation.
Meera Withdrew Complaint After Goods Were Returned
The Lahore DIG spokesperson said Meera had initially sought police action concerning certain goods allegedly in Yasmin’s possession.
According to the police, the goods were later returned to Meera, following which the actress withdrew her request for police action.
The subsequent inquiry established that the two parties had settled their dispute. Under the reconciliation agreement, Meera is also expected to pay Yasmin a salary of Rs. 20,000 on August 24.
The police spokesperson reiterated that Yasmin had clearly stated that she did not want any action against Meera and that both parties had agreed to resolve the matter amicably.
Earlier, Yasmin had reportedly alleged that she was mistreated by the actress. A video statement that later circulated on social media showed the domestic worker speaking about her experience and seeking legal intervention.
The CCTV footage reportedly showed an altercation at the entrance of Meera’s residence, including an alleged incident in which the actress pushed and slapped the domestic worker.
The footage and allegations generated considerable public attention, but the police inquiry ultimately recorded a mutual settlement between the two parties.
With the reconciliation agreement now included in the police record and Meera having withdrawn her complaint after the return of the disputed goods, the matter has been settled between the parties according to the police spokesperson.
The incident nevertheless highlights the importance of resolving disputes involving domestic workers through lawful and appropriate channels. Claims of physical abuse can carry serious implications, making proper investigation and documentation important whenever such allegations are raised.
For now, the latest development is that Yasmin has stated that she does not want police action against Meera, while both sides have agreed not to pursue further allegations regarding the dispute.
