Shah Rukh Khan’s King Reportedly Secures ₹665 Crore in Pre-Release Deals

Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action thriller King is already generating significant business ahead of its theatrical release. The highly anticipated film has reportedly secured pre-release deals worth approximately ₹665 crore, creating major expectations for its box-office performance.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the project has attracted considerable interest from distributors, streaming platforms and other entertainment industry partners. Several important distribution and commercial agreements have reportedly been finalised months before its scheduled cinema release on December 24, 2026.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, Phars Films has acquired the overseas distribution rights for a reported minimum guarantee of ₹175 crore. Meanwhile, Pen Marudhar has secured the Indian distribution rights in a deal reportedly valued at ₹250 crore.

The film has also generated substantial revenue through its digital, satellite and music agreements. Netflix reportedly purchased the streaming rights for ₹150 crore, while the satellite rights were sold for an estimated ₹25 crore.

Additionally, the music rights have reportedly generated another ₹65 crore. Together, these agreements bring the reported pre-release business of King to approximately ₹665 crore.

However, the final value of certain agreements, particularly the digital streaming deal, could depend on the film’s theatrical performance.

King Faces an Estimated ₹800 Crore Box-Office Target

Despite its impressive pre-release business, King reportedly faces a challenging financial target. The film’s production and promotional expenses have increased expectations surrounding its worldwide theatrical collection.

Initial reports placed the production budget at approximately ₹300 crore. However, later estimates published by Sacnilk and Pinkvilla suggested that production costs had increased to nearly ₹400 crore.

Marketing and promotional expenses are estimated at around ₹50 crore. When Shah Rukh Khan’s notional acting fee is also considered, the overall cost could reach approximately ₹550 crore.

According to industry estimates cited in the reports, the action thriller may need to collect around ₹800 crore worldwide to meet the financial expectations of its producers and distribution partners.

Such a target places considerable pressure on the film to attract audiences across domestic and international markets.

The reported collection target also puts King among the major commercial projects expected to compete with successful Indian cinema releases. The reports have drawn comparisons with high-profile films such as Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava.

Shah Rukh Khan Reunites With Pathaan Director Siddharth Anand

One of the biggest attractions of King is the reunion of Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Siddharth Anand. The two previously worked together on the 2023 blockbuster Pathaan, which achieved significant commercial success.

Their previous collaboration has raised expectations among fans, particularly those anticipating another large-scale action entertainer.

The upcoming film is also an important project in Shah Rukh Khan’s theatrical career. His most recent cinema release was Dunki, which arrived in December 2023.

The promotional campaign for King gained momentum on November 2, when Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his birthday by unveiling the film’s first song.

The announcement generated excitement among fans, adding to the growing anticipation surrounding the project.

King Set for December 24, 2026 Release

King is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 24, 2026. With its reported ₹665 crore pre-release business and an estimated worldwide box-office target of ₹800 crore, the film is expected to be one of the major Bollywood releases of the year.

Its commercial performance will depend on audience response, theatrical occupancy and its ability to attract viewers in international markets.

For Shah Rukh Khan, the film represents another major collaboration with Siddharth Anand following the success of Pathaan. With significant financial expectations already attached to the project, all eyes will be on its theatrical performance when it finally reaches cinemas.
