Reema Khan Reflects on Past Incident, Admits Slapping Co-Actress During Film Shoot

Veteran Pakistani actress, director, and producer Reema Khan has publicly admitted that she once slapped a fellow actress during the shooting of her film Miss Istanbul, while also expressing regret over the incident years later.

Reema Khan, one of the most recognized names in Pakistan’s film industry, began her career with Bulandi and went on to establish herself through several successful projects including Koi Tujh Sa Kahan, Zameen Aasman, Jo Darr Gaya Woh Mar Gaya, Chor Machaye Shor, Hathi Meray Saathi, and Nikah. She was widely known for her on-screen chemistry with leading actors such as Shaan Shahid, Saud, and Babar Ali.

Now based in the United States following her marriage to Dr. Tariq Shahab, Reema shared the revelation during a recent podcast appearance. She reflected that the incident took place during the filming of Miss Istanbul, directed by Shamim Ara in Islamabad, when tensions on set escalated.

According to Reema, a co-actress used abusive language toward her during the shoot, leading to an emotional reaction. She admitted that she lost control at the moment and slapped the actress in front of the crew. However, she chose not to name the individual involved, adding that the actress is still active in the industry.

Reema expressed deep regret over her actions, stating that she should have handled the situation differently. She emphasized that youthful emotions can sometimes lead to impulsive decisions, especially in high-pressure environments like film sets.

“I regret it to this day,” she said, noting that she now prefers to leave such matters to time and faith. She also prayed for the well-being of the person involved, acknowledging that it was a moment she wishes she could take back.

During the discussion, Reema also dismissed the long-standing narrative of rivalries and “number one versus number two” competition among actresses, suggesting that such perceptions were often exaggerated by media rather than real personal conflicts within the industry.

Her remarks have sparked renewed discussion about behind-the-scenes tensions in Pakistan’s film industry, particularly during its earlier decades when professional boundaries on set were less structured than they are today.
